Sometimes it seems like all of the publishers put out music made to use only in “1st Mega Church of America.” The truth is that a great a majority of churches in the U.S. have less than 200 in attendance! If that is true, then if even 10% of each of those churches belong to their respective choirs, the choir is no more than 20 people! Not that large, is it? So, who makes materials for this majority of churches to use in creative worship? While most publishers have some music in their catalogs for the smaller-than-huge church choir, the following have special portions of their holdings dedicated to that kind of usage.
Lillenas Music has a special series
titled "Easy 2 Excel," which "specializes in top-quality music specially written
for the church choir with limited resources."
The
Word Choral Club
offers anthems and musicals for all seasons of the year that are customized for
use in smaller churches. They also do simplified arrangements of many of their
best sellers.
"Songs of the Shepherd - Volume 1"
from Shepherd's Staff Worship Music is also an ideal source for the smaller
church choir. There is not only a variety of styles in this set of songs but
also simple voicing and arranging flexibility to ensure easy accessibility.
Some of the above publishers also offer instrumental material that is geared for use in churches with limited instrumental resources but who desire to use the resources that they do have.
