How to Use Flow Sheets

Flow Sheets are named Flow Sheets, because we want them to show the focus and flow of any given service.  They are NOT what the bulletin looks like, as seen by the person in the church pew!  Those are completely different.  Flow Sheets are special sheets that are in the hands of those worship leaders who guide the workings of the service (i.e., pianist, organist, orchestra members, etc.).  In looking at and using Flow Sheets, those are the types of people to keep in mind...including their part in each service, their capabilities, etc.

Following are some helpful hints for utilizing the Flow Sheets:

The hymnal numbers used are from The Hymnal for Worship and Celebration, published by Word Music, Inc.  This is the hymnal we use, and since it is fully orchestrated, it really has become a very central part of our blended worship services.

Often, the used and preferred key is designated to the left of a given song.  If we use a song in a different key than in the coded resource, that change will be indicated.

A plus sign (+) indicates that there are alternate suggestions for a certain part of a service.  These alternatives can be found at the end of the Flow Sheet.

Following certain selections, you may see a code and/or product number.  The list of codes can be found on the Book Codes page.

Any hymn or other song that is highlighted on the Flow Sheet indicates that there is additional information about that song that can be found on the Hymn/Song Introductions page.

"All Play" means that piano, organ, and orchestra all play.

If it is indicated that a certain portion of the orchestra is playing (i.e., strings, woodwinds, etc.), we assume that the piano and/or organ also play, unless it is specifically indicated otherwise.

Make sure that, in your use of this material (i.e., printing of lyrics, etc.), that you adhere to the CCLI guidelines.  It is a wonderful ministry assistance to us and to all the publishers involved.  Let's all cooperate on this issue.  You can follow the link to the CCLI Web site, if you are not already aware and participating with CCLI.

Please e-mail if you have any questions about the Flow Sheets.  We'd love to answer your questions.  We have found that the Flow Sheets are a most helpful tool in providing quality corporate worship services.  We hope they give you ideas as well.  They are not intended to be the "be all and end all" on how to plan a service.  However, they have all been used to bring glory to God where we are and may have application for you.  You can add your own ideas, thoughts, and prayers to springboard your service planning and bring your congregation as close to God as you possibly can!  By utilizing these Flow Sheets, if you can get one new song, a new combination of songs, a new theme or prayer thought, or any other creative way to approach your worship services, we will have accomplished our goal!
